BARNSTABLE VILLAGE, MA:  With the Re-Dedication of the Town’s Seal ceremony in the past, it’s safe to say our celebration of the Town’s birthday is officially underway.

The ceremony took place on the hill at the Barnstable County Complex on Sunday, May 4th. A large crowd gathered on the grass to celebrate the seal, on the occasion of its 125th anniversary.  Makhai Dickerson-Pells, a Barnstable High School Student, assumed the role of Town Crier, and called all to attention with a bold “Hear Ye, Hear Ye”. Selby Tindall, Issy Archer, Nora Canedy and Sarah Kuehne from the Barnstable High School Drama Club joined Makhai on the stage.

Town Council President and Chair of the Barnstable 375th Committee Jessica Rapp Grassetti took to the stage to welcome everyone, announce the seal’s re-dedication, and to introduce the Honor Guard. The crowd was led in the Pledge of Allegiance by students from the Town’s elementary schools. Members of the Barnstable High School Chamber Choir under the direction of Choral Director Marcia Wytrwal sang the National Anthem. The Honor Guard was dismissed, and the Reverend Dr. Kristen Harper, Minister of the Unitarian Church of Barnstable provided the invocation. Town Manager Tom Lynch addressed the crowd and thanked the students for their participation in the ceremony.
